How To Use Problems As Stepping Stones

When the farmer's old donkey fell down into a dried-up well, it cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, the farmer decided it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the old donkey; since the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway.

He then sought the assistance of his neighbours to help fill up the well, with dirt. The neighbours arrived, grabbed shovels and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, when the donkey realized what was happening, it cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

More shovel loads later when the farmer looked down into the well, he was amazed at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit the donkey’s back, it would shake it off and step on it. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel more dirt on top of the animal, it continued to shake it off and step on it. Shortly afterwards, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off.

MORAL: When problems come your way, remember the donkey. Shake it off and step on it. There shall be no better stepping stones.
