Responsibility Produces Happiness

Sigmund Freud once said, “Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.”  Don’t let this be you.  When you blame others for what you’re going through and deny responsibility, you surrender the power over that part of your life. So, make no mistake about it; in the end, the price you pay for happiness, is responsibility.  As soon as you stop making everyone and everything else responsible for your happiness, the happier you’ll be.

If you’re unhappy now, it’s not someone else’s fault. Ultimately, your happiness depends on your self-reliance, your unshakable willingness to take responsibility for your life from this moment forward, regardless of who had a hand in making it the way it is now.  It’s all about taking control of your present circumstances, thinking for yourself, and making a firm choice to choose differently.  It’s all about being the hero of your life, not the victim.

Growing Through Experience

Over time you will find that life isn’t necessarily any easier or harder than you thought it was going to be; it’s just that the easy and the hard times aren’t exactly the way you had anticipated, and don’t always occur when you expect them to.  This isn’t a bad thing. It rather makes life interesting.  With a positive attitude you will always be pleasantly surprised. When you stop expecting things to be a certain way, you can appreciate them for what they are.  Ultimately you will realize that life’s greatest gifts are rarely wrapped the way you expected.

Experience is what you get when your plans don’t go as planned, and experience is the most valuable commodity you own, because it builds your strength. You have the power to turn your wounds and worries into wisdom; you just have to do something about them.  You have to accept what has happened and use what you’ve learned to step forward.  Everything you’ve experienced has given you the upper hand for dealing with everything you have yet to experience. When you realize this, you automatically set yourself free.

Creating And Using The Power Of Mind-set

It is important to appreciate that in life, it is okay to have down days and tough times.  Expecting life to be wonderful all the time would be like waiting to swim in an ocean in which waves, only rise up and never come crashing down. And when you recognize that the rising and crashing waves are part of the exact same ocean, you are able to let go and be at peace with the reality of these ups and downs. In other words, life isn’t perfect, but it sure is good.  Our goal shouldn’t be to create a perfect life, but to live an imperfect life in radical amazement; by getting up every morning and taking a very good look around in a way that takes nothing for granted, and appreciating that everything is extraordinary and every day is a gift, and never treat life casually. Your mind-set is especially powerful when it comes to accepting not to let the pain of a situation make you hopeless, not to let negativity wear off on you and not to let any bitterness steal your sweetness. And even though others may disagree with you, take pride in the fact that you still know the world to be a beautiful place.  Change your thoughts and you change your reality.

When times are hard it can be difficult to follow your heart and take another step, but it’s a tragedy to let the lies of fear stop you.  Although fear can feel overwhelming, and defeats more people than any other force in the world, it’s not as powerful as it seems.  Fear is only as deep as your mind allows.  You are still in control.  So take control by acknowledging your fear and directly addressing it.  Fight hard to shine the light of your words upon it, because if you don’t and you let your fear become a wordless, obscure darkness that you avoid, and perhaps even manage to briefly forget, you open yourself to future attacks from fear when you least expect it. And that can only happen because you never truly faced the opponent who defeated you. You can beat fear if you face it courageously.  And remember that courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid; courage means you don’t let fear stop you from moving forward with your life.

Pain Is Part Of Life And Love

Pain is part of life and love, and it helps us to grow. Many of us are afraid of ourselves, the truth about us, and our feelings. While we are quick to talk about how great the concepts of life and love are, we hide from both every day.  We hide from our truest feelings, because the truth is, life and love hurt sometimes, and the feeling that it brings disturbs us. We are taught at an early age that all pain is evil and harmful.  How can we ever deal with real life and true love if we’re afraid to feel what we really feel?  We need to feel pain, just as we need to feel alive and loved.  Pain is meant to wake us up.  Yet we try to hide our pain.

We have to appreciate that pain is something to carry willingly, just like good sense; because we can only learn how strong we are when being strong is the only choice we have. It’s really all in how we carry the things that don’t go our way, that will matters in the end.  Pain is a feeling, and our feelings are a part of us, and our own reality.  If we feel ashamed of them, and hide them, we will be letting the lies of insecurity destroy our reality.  We should stand up for our right to feel pain, to endure it, to own our scars, to deal with the realities of life and love, as we grow into the strongest, wisest, and truest version of ourselves.

He Threw Out The Wrong Bitch!

An American soldier, serving in World War II, had just returned from several weeks of intense action on the German front lines. When he was finally granted R&R and got on a very crowded train bound for London, he walked the length of the train looking for an empty seat. The only unoccupied seat was directly adjacent to a well-dressed middle aged lady and was being used by her little dog. So the war weary soldier asked, “Please, ma’am, may I sit in that seat?” The English woman looked down her nose at the soldier, sniffed and said, “You Americans. You are such a rude class of people. Can’t you see my Little Fifi is using that seat?” The soldier walked away, determined to find a place to rest. But after another trip down to the end of the train, he again found himself facing the woman with the dog. Again he asked, “Please lady, may I sit there? I’m very tired.”

The English woman wrinkled her nose and snorted, “You Americans! Not only are you rude, you are also arrogant. Imagine!” The soldier didn’t say anything else; he leaned over, picked up the little dog, tossed it out of the window of the train and sat down in the empty seat. The woman shrieked, railed, and demanded that someone defend her and chastise the soldier. Then an English gentleman sitting across the aisle spoke up, “You know, Sir, you Americans do seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You eat holding the fork in the wrong hand. You drive your autos on the wrong side of the road. And now, Sir, you have thrown the wrong bitch out of the window.”

The Strange Noise In The Monastery

When a man was driving down the road and his car broke down near a Monastery, he went to the Monastery, knocked on the door and when a Monk appeared, he said,” My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?” The Monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner and even fixed his car. As he was about falling asleep, he heard a strange sound. So when the next morning he asked the Monks what the sound was, they said, “We can't tell you. You're not a Monk.” The man was disappointed, but thanked them anyway and went on his way.

Some years later, the same man had a break down in front of the same Monastery. And the Monks again accepted him, fed him and also fixed his car. And when that night he heard the same strange noise that he had heard years earlier, and he asked the Monks the next morning what the noise was, they replied, “We can't tell you. You're not a Monk.” The man then said, “All right, all right. I'm dying to know. If the only way I can find out what that sound was, is to become a Monk, how do I become a Monk?” The Monks replied, “You must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a Monk.”

The man then set about his task. Some 45 years later, he returned and knocked on the door of the Monastery. And when the Monks opened the door, the man said, “I have travelled the earth and have found what you have asked for. There are 145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth.” The monks then chorused, “Congratulations! You are now a monk. We shall now show you the way to the sound.” They then led him man to a wooden door where the Head Monk said, “The sound is right behind this door.” The man reached for the knob, but the door was locked.

And the man said, “Real funny. May I have the key, please?” And a Monk gave him the key, and he opened the door. Behind the wooden door was another door made of stone. The man demanded for the key to the stone door, and a Monk gave him the key. He opened it, only to find another door made of ruby. He demanded and another key was provided. Behind that door was yet another door made of sapphire. So it went until the man had gone through doors of emerald, silver, topaz, and amethyst. Finally, the Monks said, “This is the last key to the last door.” The man was relieved to no end. He unlocked the door, turned the knob, and behind that door he was amazed to find the source of that strange sound. But he can't tell you what it is, because you're not a Monk. Don't be angry with me, because I am still looking for the guy who sent me this piece. Off to my church, to pray for you and yours.

Make Your Worries Productive

Worry normally paralyses you into a state of guilt, regret or getting stuck in the past or things that may happen in the future. You may worry about everything from your current financial state, job, domestics and relationships, to the weather or anything that affects your lifestyle. Worry normally comes in two types, productive and unproductive. The unproductive worry consists of problems you have no control over. For example, you may be worried about a nuclear war. There’s nothing you can do about it, so it’s a waste of time and very unproductive to worry about it. Productive worry involves a situation you can control, such as meeting an important deadline.

You may be anxious about getting the work done on time, but sitting on the couch worrying about it doesn’t help. You can make that worry productive by planning what you can do to meet the deadline and then taking action. You may need to empty your mind of all negative thoughts before you can become productive. And one way to clear your mind is to write down your worries and analyse. Your anxiety will likely recede when you can focus only on the task at hand and leave the clutter in your mind behind. Sometimes, anxiety can become an energy booster because of the definite adrenaline rush you experience when you’re anxious; and when you focus that energy on being productive, your performance is enhanced.

As you begin to control your worry patterns and work through them, you’ll build resilience so that you can face future circumstances with confidence If you become panicked about a situation, it may be best to get your mind off of it for a while to read a book, take a walk or do something to help clear your mind. Giving yourself a break from whatever is stressing you out is also a productive step you can take and the task will become much easier when you return to it. Transforming worrying into productivity takes practice, but when you master the technique, you’ll be amazed at how you can mentally pull yourself out of a stressful situation and get back to solving the worrisome situation in a rational and productive way.

Now I wish I can slap you, because Aunty Elizabeth is daddy's girlfriend! Next time you should be more aware of your marital affairs!!”

How To Be Successful In The Marketplace

Chuan and Jing joined a wholesale company together just after graduation. Both worked very hard. After several years, the boss promoted Jing to Senior Sales Executive but Chuan remained a Sales Executive. One day, Chuan could not take it anymore. So he tendered his resignation to the boss and complained that the boss did not value hard working staff, but only promoted those who flattered him. The boss knew that Chuan worked very hard for the years he’d spent at the company, but in order to help Chuan realize the difference between him and Jing, the boss set Chuan a task and said, “Go and find out if anyone is selling water melon in the market?” Chuan returned and said yes there is someone. The boss asked how much per kg? Chuan went back to the market to ask and returned to inform boss the $12 per kg.

The Boss then told Chuan, I will ask Jing the same question, pay close attention to his response. And Jing went, returned and said, “Boss, there is only one person selling water melon. The cost is $12 per kg and $100 for 10 kg. He has inventory of 340 melons. On the table there were 58 melons, with each one weighing about 15 kg. They were purchased from the South two days ago and they are fresh and red with good quality.” Chuan was very impressed and realized the difference between himself and Jing. He decided not to resign but to learn from Jing. Because, to be successful in the Marketplace, you must be observant, think more, have a holistic perspective and go the extra mile. So go to work today, tomorrow and every day with a better approach to your work and business.

The One Wish

When a bus full of ugly people had a head on collision with a truck and they all died, God granted all of them one wish each. The first person said, "I want to be gorgeous." God snapped his fingers and it happened. The second person said the same thing and God did the same thing. While this was going on and on through the group, God noticed the last man in the line was laughing hysterically. And by the time God got to the last ten people, the last man was still laughing and now rolling on the ground. Eventually when the man's turn came, he stopped laughing, but just smiled and said, "I wish they all become ugly again!"

The nuns then looked at each other and one nun said, "He's blind, so he can't see. What could it hurt?" So they let him in. The blind man walked in, looked at both of them admiringly and said, "Hey, nice tits. Where do you want me to hang the blinds?"

On Kindness

Those who make compassion an essential part of their lives find the joy of life. For kindness deepens the spirit and produces rewards that cannot be completely explained in words. It is therefore an experience more powerful than words. And to become acquainted with kindness, one must be prepared to learn new things and feel new feelings. Kindness is more than a philosophy of the mind. It is a philosophy of the spirit.

Never Again!

I asked a brother how his weekend was and he replied, “Never again!” So I queried, “What type of a reply is that? Don’t you want another weekend?” He then moaned, apologized and said, “Not that! I attended a crusade at the weekend, where I had expected one would find some sanity. But while I was dutifully minding my own business of casting and binding like other gullible crusaders, a supposedly fellow crusader placed a hand on my shoulder and said, ‘You will walk.’ It didn't bother me, because I knew I wasn’t lame. But after the crusade when I was about to pay for my transport fare, I discovered that my wallet had taken leave of me. And I had to walk all the way home.”

It was an accident!!” And the mother screamed angrily, “Accident! You mean you were crossing the road and a penis suddenly appeared from nowhere and eventually hit you?” At this point, a sobbing Lola said, “Mum, it wasn’t like that! I tripped, fell and accidentally landed on an erect penis!!”
