1.       Alfred Nobel, inventor of the dynamite, was astonished to read his own obituary, titled "The merchant of death is dead," in a French newspaper. It was Alfred's brother who had died, but the episode made him reconsider his legacy. His last will specified that his fortune be used to create the Nobel Prize.
2.       Les Harvey, guitarist for '70s blues-rock band Stone the Crows, died onstage in front of 1,000 fans on May 3, 1972 when he was electrocuted while tuning up for a show.
3.       Orgia nova Fitch is the biological nomenclature for a species of moth.
4.       Friedrich August Kekulé discovered the ring-shaped structure of the organic chemical compound benzene while daydreaming about the famous circular symbol of a snake eating its own tail.
5.       The EU banned cheese made in Stilton to be called Stilton cheese.
6.       The Nebra Sky Disc (1600 BC) is the earliest known space map and the oldest known portable astronomical instrument.
7.       The letters Q, W, and X were illegal in Turkey for 85 years.
